I have Interviewed myself twice and now that you know me, I think it's important to try my interview skills on someone else. This is not ordinary person however today I am interviewing a creator of a brand I hold dear to my heart. If you follow me on IG @Caribbean_cowgirl or have been following my blog then you have seen this two-toned velvet blazer.I wore it back in October in my Dark n' Lovely post and it was an immediate hit! So many people were in awe of its fabulousness so I made sure to highlight this blazer and the black designer in my November Buying Black post. After posting this, a miracle happened.I was minding my business and scrolling on IG and guess who is on Fashionbombdaily?! Me bih! Unbeknowst to both me and the designer, the pic below was reposted by Fashionbombdaily and the Velvet Crush Blazer was product of the day! So yea, I'm pretty famous and a big deal or whatever *flips hair. Ok guys, let's get into this interview and find out about the brand Lord Logan , and its designer, Logan. Q:How did you come with the name for your brand? A:Over the pass seven years, I drove into my spiritually deeper. From studying metaphysics' and the Bible. Being so aware of the Lord's miracles from my spiritual journey. I decided to put the Lord first and I second . Hence the name Lord Logan =the Lord first and my maiden last name Logan Q:Did you always want to work in the fashion industry? A:Yes ,as a young girl I used create clothes with mom's paper towels to dress my dolls. At the time, I thought I was just was playing with my dolls, but now I know creating and designing was always in my blood. Q:How did you get your 1st big break or did you get one? A:Doing what I love, having the courage to do soo, and inspire others to reach for the stars that's my big break. Deets on my look: Okay so I love this brand! I love Lord Logan as if I designed the pieces myself. So when I decided to style this Velvet Crush Blazer I knew I had to SET IT OFF IN THIS MUTHAAA *in my lil boosie voice. The blazer in itself is a stunning statement that is tailored to perfection. As much as I love an inexpensive piece, this two-toned blazer is well worth the mini splurge.Quality is key people! With the piece already dripping in jewel tones of emerald and sapphire, I decided to play up on that by adding ruby hued accents. That is where my fur stole, fedora and boots come into play. I snagged these boots for $9.99 on sale at www.Zara.com reg priced $120.The way they fit I can see why they were so cheap *side eye.I literally wore them 10 mins and I felt a corn forming on my baby toe.I'm soo over these boots, but no you can't have them lol.I could have easily worn a pair of plain jeans, but I am not plain by any means so denim short pants it was. I kept my top simple (sheer black top, thrifted) to let jewel tones take center stage. I opted for my green eyeliner with my fave Colourpop lippie, LAX to keep the color scheme in tact. I plan on wearing this to a day party during CIAA next weekend in Charlotte. I can't wait to fake sick and call out of work Friday! jk...(not really) sidenote:the boots below are not from Zara so I would think I they are a bit better fit-wise. Shop each piece below including my Lord Logan blazer which is currently 20% off! Q:How would you say the fashion industry favors for a young black woman? A:As we all know as a black woman, we have to work extra hard to be seen and heard. In this industry you have to make your own path. Build your own door because it definitely not easy. I remember when I first started designing and I will show my clothes to different stores, and "they use to say You made this or you design this. " I used smile and say the proudest Yess Q:What advice can you give to anyone trying to break into the fashion industry? A:Work, Work, Work , become great at your craft, be different, do internships, find a mentor, if you want it never stop. Q:What can we expect to see from you in 2017? A:Growth domestically and internationally and more Awareness of the brand. Stay tuned guys because the Spring 2017 line is dropping soon as well! Did I also mention that Logan is my mentor? Yea so go find your own, ok? I have never formally met her but that is the great thing about the world wide web. I saw her designs on a fashion page on Facebook and was immediately entranced! The detail, the quality of fabric, the tailoring all things that are missing in the world of fast fashion. So I stalked their Facebook and IG pages to find out more.I was a woman obsessed, but I know what I like and I know stand out pieces. My admiration for the brand grew that much more when I found out it was the brain child of a beautiful black woman. That matters to me, like a lot.I want to uplift my sisters and myself ;which can be done simultaneously. So we began chatting and realizing we had so much in common and she became my mentor and fashion 'big sis'. Never be afraid to take that step and reach out guys.I have learned so much from her and about myself in such a short amount of time.Noone wakes up great, you have to work towards it(a corn was forming on my baby toe right when this pic was taken). These are my top pics from the Spring 2016 collection. Shop by clicking each piece. To see the full collection, which is currently 20% off, head to their site www.itslordlogan.com .The Spring 2017 collection is dropping in a few weeks so make sure to follow them on IG @itslordlogan for the latest updates and announcements! Meet the designer herself, Logan excerpt from Buying Black post : "Lord Logan is a high-end contemporary line for the modern woman. It emerges innovative styles with fine fabrics and bold colors.Created by wonder woman extraordinaire Logan Hendricks. From high end retail and at 15 to interning at the likes of MTV and then getting her degree in Business Marketing and Management, she used her business acumen and exceptional seamstress skills to create her fashion love child." Excerpt from IG:
"I am a black woman and love every part of my blackness. I am a designer: a dream that I pushed and built on my faith, courage, and with a whole bunch of you can nots and me saying watch me. I am business owner : and sometimes, I wish I was working for the " Man".. lmao. Because being a business owner is like having 10 jobs, but every essence of me know I was built for it. But most important, I am a soon to be Mom, I am a Mom that will tell her son, baby you were destined to be great because your parents didn't believe in confinement, but they believed in reaching for the impossible! ."
