Happy Halloween! ...or as I like to think of it " another excuse to dress up".lol. At any event, I'll take it! I really was not going to do a post , but a push from a close friend got me inspired. Quite ironically, her pushed reminded me that there is a small cemetery less than 100 feet from my house. I didn't buy or plan on making a costume, so I immediately went with black. Goth-chic is really the theme of this post. Black with lace, frill, and a vamp lip (not to mention a cemetery proved to be quite the combination. I hope my spooky style was to your liking, but I think the part that will make you scream is that my ensemble was less than 10 dollars! Enjoy :) Ultra Matte Lipstick (Colourpop.com, $5..in Limbo shade) Neck Choker..just a flash tattoo! (purchased at Dollar Tree) Off the Shoulder top (Shein.com, $3.95) Black lace skirt ( Shein.com, $5) Heels (JustFab)

Good Monday morning to all!! So.....yea I had all this amazing description for my outfit and my computer totally disrespected me and crashed (grrrrrr).Anyway, I'm putting my best foot forward and trying this again. I'm still going strong with my Autumn color palette and adding patterns and textures to the mix. I am trying to master the art of layering this year. My olive suede mini skirt was my choice of the day. Instead of a stuffy sweater , I mixed it up by adding a statement tee (which has an appropriate description of my skirt and my favorite libation). My collar necklace was the perfect fit to accent my crew neck tee. To top it off, I threw my new color block poncho on to complete the look. You would not believe how heavy and warm this poncho is! I think am really started to like this layering thing. I am even trying it on my footwear. Socks with sandals are not just for dads at the beach anymore! By adding my gray argyle trouser socks to my gold strappy heels I am keeping my toes warm and adding 'zazz to my footwear. You will definitely turn heads with this look! Louis Vuitton monogram will always be classic. So I grabbed my vintage speedy to seal the deal. I hope everyone enjoys this post.Be a fashion force to be reckoned with....turn heads....step high...and work it! Poncho (Shein.com, $13) Statement tee (#DIYD) Olive Suede skirt (Shein.com ,$6) Collar necklace (Forever 21) Socks (Walmart, $3) Gold strappy sandals (Shoedazzle, $7.50..on sale) Louis Vuitton Speedy (Vintage) To all my hip cats and cool daddyo's this is for you! There is a saying "there is nothing new under the sun", which is so true especially in fashion which pretty much is cycle. Even though we are smack-dab middle of the 2010's we are obsessing over all things vintage. This year we are totally submerged in the 70's.From rompers to fringe ,suede, stacked heels, skinny ties and the list goes on of major funky style that has made its way back into our closets or there for the 1st time. Mini dresses have stood the test of time and definitely elongate the legs. Since the days are getting cooler, add some funk to your look with over the knee socks and stacked heel for supa fly style! Button downs ,whether long or short, are a classic that can be worn a million ways. I decided to pair a button down with my mini denim jumper, and added a skinny bowtie as the perfect accessory. Fedoras have made their way into many closets this year ....including yours truly. Hats are a great way to 'top' off a look and make a bold statement. There are many styles of hats to fit any fancy. Personally, I'm pretty obsessed with all of them right now! (*cue "I aint got not type" ) No outfit is complete without a nice bag to flaunt. Buckets bags are so on trend right now, ranging from minis to back packs, and even bigger styles. Fall is the perfect time to definitely add textures into your look so I decided my suede mini bucket bag would fair nicely. My lucky rabbit's foot keychain meshed well with the retro them. Vests are wonderful layering piece that can add both dimension and different textures to your look. They can also elongate the torso too (make sure not to get a vest that cuts off your midsection)! The lovely Chakayla Taylor of www.stylishlydecadent.com came through serving with a suede skirt accented by a fringe top and perfectly fitting head wrap...p.s. she is always slaying the head wrap game. Check out her blog for her full post and her instagram @stylishlydecadent. I hope you enjoyed this post and would love to see my readers Funky 70's inspired looks. Mini suede bucket bag (Diane Von Furstenburg,$3..thrift win!) Ahhhh! It's the beginning of another work week and fresh fashion fête for all those in the blogosphere! This Monday's post is especially exciting to me because I am collaborating with another fab Carolina blogger. Chakayla Taylor of www.stylishlydecadent.com (ig name: @stylishlydecadent) is fashionista who loves turning bargains into bangin' bold looks. Not only does her blog discuss all things style, but she also reflects on what it means to be a mother as well as a strong woman....two words :LOVE HER!! So when she reached out to me to do a 70's inspired fall mini look book "yes" was the only word that came to mind. My look is inspired by the working woman of the era who not only enjoys classic pieces, but also incorporated big trends of the times. As you can see, I pared my mock neck olive sweater with a midi fringe skirt. I complimented the look with my new shoes and silk scarf to accent my low bun. I hope you guys enjoy my look and don't worry, My pics are scarce today, but I have another fierce 70's look coming your way and I am giving plenty of visuals. Enjoy :) Mock-neck sweater (Forever21,$19.80) Fringe Midi skirt (Shein.com, $8) Wine Buckle flats (Thrift,$3) Mini Cross body faux-croc bag (Thrift, $3) Belt (Thrift, $2) Happy Sunday!! I will keep it short and sweet today. This lovely fall floral dress is perfect for occasions such as church, brunch, high-tea , and even weddings.Enjoy ;) Scarf (stolen from my mom) Organza top floral dress (Shein.com, $15.80) D'orsay Pumps (Christian Louboutin, old) Clutch (Thalia, old) Lipstick (Colourpop-LAX,$5) Olive Khaki(and khaki in general) has been trending all year! I totally obessessed with it too! This post just serves as fall inspiration on how you can incorporate this color into style staples. Sleeveless coats, maxi skirts, and barely there sandals are pretty much staples on every fashionista's closet.Today's looks showcase the minimalist's perspective on the fall fave hue.Enjoy :) White "Bettie" blazer (Missguided.com, $28.00) camisole (Forever21, $1.80) Maxi skirt (Dorothy Perkins.com, $10..on sale) Gold lace up heels (Shoedazzle.com $15) Waterfall sleeveless coat (Prettylittlethings.com $22.00...sold out...but Missguided.com and Shein.com have similar styles) Cream sleeveless turtleneck dress (Thrifted, $6) Olive barely there sandals (Missguided.com, $38..on sale) Bucket bag ( Zara, $39.99...old) Sunglasses (Amazon.com ,$4) Earrings (Romwe.com , $3.80) Nail Polish "caught me with my khakis down" (Sephora by OPI, $1.80..on sale) It's a rainy Monday here in NC, but that doesn't stop my style! I kinda like the dreary days because I get extra creative in my style.Continuing with the fall hues, I decided to go with a Chestnut brown and dark Teal.Knits and long line vests are definitely fall style staples , and I will am here for all of it.To jazz up my look, I topped it off with a leather baseball cap with a pom pom ( FYI ..I did that hat my damn self #DIYD).A novelty owl clutch and statement heels sealed the deal of my street style worthy look.No look however can be complete without light jewelry.A herringbone bow necklace, stacked beads, and studs add just a touch of 'zazz. Pom pom baseball cap (#DIYD) Long line vest (Romwe.com, $18) Ripped knit skirt (Romwe.com $9.99) Heels (JustFab.com, $14..on sale) Owl Clutch (Asos.com, $12) Bracelets (jewelry designs by Tim Ellis) Necklace (Forever 21, $4.80...old) Fall is officially here in the Carolinas! Any temperature lower that 69 degrees warrants a light jacket and ''you betta make sure you have on an undershirt before you get sick!" (pretty much the typical southern black mommma ).I know I promised this post by Friday, but I had computer issues. Changing leaves, warm autumn colors ,and holding mugs with two hands while I say "MMMmmmm" are all the things I love about this time of the year.... oh yea did I mention jackets? Olive Khaki has appeared in almost every silhouette this summer and still goes strong into cooler weather. Wine, Bordeaux, Maroon, or formally known as "Burgundy" is definitely the "it" color of the season. The rich hue can pull together many fall looks as either a complimentary color or even in a monochrome look for a bold statement. I just took my braids out and managed to barely get through wash day (natural hair probs), so a hat was definitely not a option more like a requirement. To compliment my olive khaki waterfall jacket, wine colored flats, and chestnut croc-embossed bag I decided to go with a grey kitten ear bowler. As gray can be a neutral, I think it pulled together my look and also makes a statement. I threw on my cat eye glasses just for the "cute and smart factor"....don't judge me.lol Kitten ear cap (Alliexpress.com, $5) Olive waterfall sleeveless coat (Prettylittlethings.com, $25....sold out but Missguided.com and Shein.com have similar styles) Boyfriend Jeans (Zara.com, $15) Wine Flats with Gold buckle( thrifted $3) Leather Croc-embossed Selma medium size (Michael Kors) Cat eye frames (Citi Trends, $3) |
