Spring has officially sprung in the Carolinas and I could not be more excited! Even though it means I have to shave my legs ,paint my toes, and wash the pollen off of my car daily I am still ecstatic about the warmer and longer days. This post is a collaboration with the women and children's boutique called Open Profile. This lovely off the shoulder dress I am wearing is set to be one spring's best sellers! This Lavish Alice dress is made sturdy to not only accentuate the curves, but smooth them as well. White is the perfect color for Spring as it is so crisp and clean and sets nicely against any backdrop. Wear this for a Sunday brunch with mimosas, a hot date, a meet and greet ;pretty much anywhere by switching accessories. As a part of my teaming up with Open Profile, I am doing an Open Diary on myself in regards to my style. As far back as I can remember I have always been a non-committer. I remember the times my mom would fuss at me and say 'why don't you stick to one thing and finish that before you go off starting something else?'.However, I just couldn't help myself. I would just get bored so easily that my mind would switch gears and move on to the next idea or task. My mom thought I had ADD , but I never got tested because I was an 'A' student. My ever and constant changing is something that I have done in pretty much every facet of my life;chores, schoolwork,my hair, my clothes and even dating before I met my husband. I have always wanted a tattoo, but I still don't have one because I can not commit to what I want (lol). My style is no different, and because of that I can't really define my style. It changes like the wind, depending on who or what has influenced me recently. I will say however , I love a good statement piece.Whether vintage, bold, new, designer or whatever ; all it takes is one or two accessories to take a look from a glance to a head turner.I'm not a braggy person, but I do enjoy turning heads with my style. Once anyone gets to know me , I am quite outgoing and bubbly. In social situations ,like meet and greets, I am usually a lot more reserved so I let my style speak for me. I am really awkward meeting new people, so if I wear an outgoing look I can count on them starting a conversation with me as opposed to me being a wallflower. As for my influences, they could be anything or anyone. I might see a color scheme of a room and get inspired to put a look together. Music, nature, classic TV shows (I know ,sounds weird! lol) plus whatever else you can think of can influence or inspire me on any given day. People that influence me are Rihanna, Erykah Badu and Grace Jones. They are bold, fierceness and exude the utmost confidence when they step; whether in couture or pajamas. They are not predictable style wise and I would like think of myself the same way. Predictable is boring to me. This look was centered around this hat! I looooove this hat!!! It is so dapper yet can be so feminine and is so bold. To uplift the straw boater (H&M, $7), I added a red polka dot scarf and my Rubo Woo lipstick. Polka dots are always fun and bring such a youthful tone to a look so I paired my polka dot sheer socks(Forever 21, $4) with my D'orsay Christian Louboutin pumps (old) to spice up my footwear. So far I was pleased with my look, but I felt the ultimate 'piece' was missing. I happen to go to my local beauty supply store and stumbled across these lace gloves. They were perfect! They added the perfect feminine and classic flair that I needed to complete my look. I hope you enjoyed this little piece of me that I shared about my style as well as this gorgeous dress! Soooo.... I am excited to announce I have teamed up with a fabulous boutique to bring you today's post! Haus of Fash is an online boutique who specializes in affordable pieces that are not only trendy but extremely versatile. The boutique owner, Arvion prides herself selling garments that are sexy, but classy at the same time. She strives to bring the "new classy" and "new chic" to all the lovely ladies who aspire to be fashionable, fly, and fierce. The pieces I am wearing from Haus of Fash are the nude body suit ($35) and nude midi skirt($29).For my first look , I decided to go with a more monochromatic look and pair the two. My gold plated belt added just a bit of dimension and accentuated my waist. As I am not a curvy girl, the belt helps add to the illusion that I have a few. The top is totally amazing! With Spring around the corner and sheer being so in style as well as bodysuits, this piece is a virtual must-have of the season! In addition to pairing the top with the skirt, I also tried a more casual approach by matching it with my 'step-mom' jeans and my pom pom pumps. This looks can go from day to night with right accessories and the top will definitely be an eye-grabber. The skirt, which is also versatile is different from the average midi as this one comes lined. So you can say goodbye to panty lines and unsightly bulges. The skirt pulled double -duty as I also styled it as a tube dress for a more fun street style look perfect for going to a concert...including Beyoncé and Rihanna. ******************************GIVE AWAYYYYYYYYYY******************************************** I have also teamed up with Haus of Fash to do a $50* giveaway!!! If you live here in NC you will know the weather is severely unpredictable. You can have all four seasons in one week, really! So this post is in anticipation of my fave season, Spring. I really have never done a pink lip, but I am quite surprised that this Wet N Wild 'Don't Blink Pink' complimented me so well.It can be so hard to find the right pink for brown skin, but I found a winner.Considering the lipstick was only $3 at my local CVS, it was really a no brainer.I was recently inspired by the Aquazurra 'pon pon' ankle tie sandals so I made my own #DIYD (do it ya damn self) version. I have a video coming soon , but I am still editing for now. They were really easy to make and inexpensive as well. These sandals are perfect for more many reasons, not only is 'pom pom' everything trending , but its a great way to revamp old worn old basic sandals. Mine were so beat down and worn I had pretty much given up on them. Because colors in both nature and fashion get more vibrant in Spring, these shoes and lipstick are perfect! My orange clutch from GoJane.com ($8) seemed to be the most fitting accessory as I gear up for brighter, warmer and longer days. I love a good statement clutch. A good one can be an eye grabber and a great conversation piece . I let all my accessories (shoes, bag and lips) do all the shining and let my outfit take a back seat. I kept my look simple and fun. My oversized fuzzy sweater (H&M, 12) was paired with one of my fave pair of jeans. The jeans are thrifted Levi's that I deconstructed myself. The style of the jeans are like mom jeans, but because I revamped them I consider them "step mom" jeans (insert roaring laughter here). |
