I hope everyone had a great Christmas, Kwanzaa, Happy Holidays and etc!! Dec 31 is fast approaching and so are those New Year's Eve Parties! A little black dress is always gonna rock, but trying it in a sultry maxi silhouette when turn head of both guys and gals! Slip dresses have been a hit among many celebs including the Bajan bad gyal herself, Rihanna. I hope everyone has been enjoying the slayride so far! I'm finally posting part two of my holiday lookbook after editing and battling a sore throat. We still have 2 days left till Christmas so maybe this last minute inspiration will serve you all well. My first look is my take on the traditional holiday suit. Velvet is so in this year so I incorporated that as well as jewel tones to serve as my inspiration. My Blue Velvet vintage blazer($6 thrift) ,which I have been dying to pull out, seemed like perfect fit.Its Sapphire jewel tone got me thinking 'why don't I pair another jewel tone?' so I did.My Target x Altuzarra tuxedo pants ($12 on sale) in a velvety Ruby hue definitely sealed the deal.I love a good white button down so I grabbed my Express Studio one ,made to be worn with cufflinks, and added my vintage clip on bowtie for a feminine flair ($3 thrift).Instead of a basic pump I added fuzzy clip ons to the front of my Louboutins and grabbed my Pewter Micheal Kors bag for some dazzle. My second look is one part romance , one part warm and fuzzy. My oversized fuzzy sweater (H&M, $12 last year) in cream compliment my black lace skirt (Shein.com , $5) so well. Just to make it fun, I added my pearl ear headband ($1.99) and my gold bow necklace (Forever 21 ,$4.80).This skirt always reminded me of Paris, and that Paris street style is bold, yet romantic, as well as fun. Being inspired by the French and their fancy wares, I zipped up my sassy pair of heels (JustFab, $14) and my dainty bag (Thrift, $3) and went with it. Nothing says romance and French elegance like wine, or at least the color. My fave stole from Forever 21 ( $17.80) gave the right amount of bold color and ritz to complete my look. The last look *sad face is the ultimate fun holiday look! It has glitz, glam, sparkle, fur and shine. Living in North Carolina, I can expect not to see a 'White Christmas'. We are expecting 65 degree weather, so I put on a silver brocade skirt (Forever21, $7..old) and my new darling Zara heels ($30..Black Friday Sale).I layered a white button down with my jeweled sweatshirt (Forever21, $24..old) and then topped that with my Furry faux fur vest (Target old , $20) .I two-ponytailed this look for ultimate cuteness and my owl clutch (Asos.com $12) seemed to compliment the grays and silvers in my look. I hope the slayride was all you expected and served as an inspiration .I would not have been able to do this without the encouraging words of all those who like my style as well as my wonderful husband/photographer Tim Ellis. Comment below and tell me which look is your favorite! Twas the Friday before Christmas and all through place , not an outfit was ready not even a trace...... Does this sound like you? Well you are in luck ! I have compiled a mini holiday look book with fun ad quirk ways to slay this holiday season. Come, let me take you on a SLAY RIDE! A few months ago , I did my first collaboration with a fellow bomb blogger by the name of Chakayla Taylor.Well we are at it again doing it for baby Jesus! We planned on doing another collab for the holidays , but some technical difficulties ensued. At any rate, still check out my fierce fashionista on her blog www. stylishlydecadent.com. Not only does she have fresh and funky style but great reads as well! My first look is a Christmas fringe and a fun-sock lover's dream! A nice statement fuzzy sweater is always nice with jeans , but I decided to live a little, and match mine with my black fringe skirt and my new lace -up Zara shoes. I didn't want my feet to get cold and I have been dying to pull my penguin socks out....so I slipped these bad boys on and called it a day! I have a penchant for funky socks, and its a fun take on the ugly Christmas theme shenanigans many will partake in this season. My red lip seemed most appropriate for the occasion, so I grabbed my Ruby Woo by Mac and added a lil lip liner to make it a tad darker.(yea...I know. I'm still working on the make-up part.) Metallics are pretty much mandatory staples this season,so I put on my collar necklace to show my respect for the season.lol My second look, is for those who like to show a little leg even though the weather outside is frightful. While the traditional season's color are always some iteration if red and or green, I decided to go against the norm and play on purple and pink.My Fair-Isle sweater is just cozy and its rhinestones give just enough glitz. My highwaist pink scalloped hem shorts paired perfectly with my sweater. As it is Winter (even though the weather in NC says otherwise) and I am no hussy (Southern reference) I put on my glitter semi-sheer tights to stay at minimal leg chill.I caught the Zara Black Friday sale and snagged my metallic mini-heeled pumps and they are to die for! The pewter hue shoe not only brought out the purple and the pinks of my ensemble, but coordinated well with my Micheal Kors bag as well.I'm totally into faux fur right now, so it was only fitting that I toss my faux fur stole across my shoulder to give extra uumph to my look! I kept my jewelry and makeup to a minimum.I played up my eyes with a metallic liner and kept the lips light with a sheer pink.My finishing touch, I added my jeweled ear cuff. Friday just rolls around so fast ! Another day ...another slay, I guess! Today's slay is suited for the 9 to 5 chic looking to incorporate faux fur from into their professional looks. This look includes office staples like the white button down and khaki pant, but this is a far cry from the ordinary! Transitioning from Fall to Winter, I continue to layer while adding classy elements like a collar chain and bold burgundy sock ankle boots. This asymmetrical olive khaki sleeveless top gives the right amount of edge yet sophistication to keep you all abuzz around the water cooler. This funky piece also helps elongate the frame. My khaki culottes are a fun take on the somewhat typical work wardrobe as they can be dressed up or down. It's is not quite Winter yet so I am holding on to my Autumn palette as apparent in my array of khakis, burgundys, hints of orange, teal and cognac.Tossing my faux fur stole over my shoulder just seals this style deal! I also added a bit of fur to bag with my fuzzy pom pom doused in the season's best ombre colorization.I hope this look has inspired you to bring some slay into the office! Sunglasses (GoJane.com, $1.95) White Button down (Express-thrift) Collar necklace (Given to me by my mommy) Olive asymmetrical top (Sheinside.com, $10) Khaki Culottes (Romwe.com $15) Sock ankle boots (Zara, old $29.99) Faux fur stole (Forever 21, $17.90) Purse (Michael Kors) Today is an extra special post for me! I want to recognize a special person with extraordinary talent! I get so many compliments on my pictures, but it is truly more than just me. It actually takes two. In order for style to fully appreciated in various media outlets , it is so important to have a photographer that can capture your image and translate into a piece of art, or at least visually appealing. So who's behind my banging pics? None other than my wonderful husband, Timothy Ellis. I'm not a braggy person, but I just can not explain how much I love this man.Not only for his chocolaty goodness , but his undying support of me! When I started getting serious about my style , he was willing to do full on photo shoots with my cell phone....and he only complained a little bit when I would let's do this pose 5 more times. lol From cell pics to an official fancy pants camera (his idea by the way), he has been integral in the evolution of my style. With no camera experience, he studies hours on end and takes courses just to make sure his work is up to par. His commitment is more than admirable. For all he does and more he deserves a kudos ,which is why I stepped behind the camera and used the skills I learned from my hubby, best friend and partner in crime (lol).I was more than excited to not only style and shoot for him, it felt so official. Menswear, which has definitely stepped up in recent years is just not inexpensive as women's wear which can pose a challenge. Tim is very tall and lean with solid thighs which can sometimes make pant shopping difficult. To accentuate his slender frame, the best jeans for him are the slim fit. The skinny is too skinny, and anything else looks blah. Wheat Timbs are a great staple, but for the days you want a more casual cool look a nice leather boot can really transform your ensemble. Fall and Winter accessories for men include at least the three staples : a wool coat, scarf, and a beard. So Tim is definitely ready! Can we just get into how awesome he is?! Not only does he work full time, but he is a great father, husband, photographer , jewelry designer, beard gang member, and poses like model! For our couple pics, he just uses a tripod and timer....skills! What a man I got! I hope both men and women enjoy this post on menswear, and if so will post more with affordable price points. Comment below and tell me what you think! His look: Cap-Brooks Brothers-old Button Down Shirt-H&M-$9.99...recently purchased Jeans (Express-Plato's Closet(Consignment), $15) Boots (Aldo,$120 old) Scarf (Forver21Men, $12) Pea Coat (Forever21Men, $45..Black Friday Sale..win!) My look Turtleneck (thrifted) Boyfriend Jeans (Zara.com $12 on sale) Faux fur stole (Forver21, $17.90) Pumps (#diyd) After all these years, I have finally began to embrace fall in all its splendor. The golden hues, the early sunsets, the leaves!!! Can we get into these leaves though?!! The reds, oranges, golds , and browns, all tossed about the ground and on the trees making the perfect backdrop. I have welcomed Autumn will full force, but old man Winter is right around the corner so I must make the most of it before I pull out the long overcoats and boots, Everywhere you look, the fashion forward are sporting fur this year. Whether faux (like me) or fur real some , fuzzy and furry are fetch this year. Fendi has made that abundantly clear with their fur monster accents laden throughout their newest collection. Inspired by the chlorophyll deprived foliage which I refuse to rake, I came up with today's look.Autumn's warm palette made for a great style muse.As fur stoles are the 'it' accessory for the Fall fashionista, it only made sense that belted slip this stole...ya know...'faux fun!' *insert laughs . Forever 21 has some very affordable ones like this wine color beauty I have. I color blocked this look with the season's hues as well as its textures: knit, corduroy, leather, and fur. This look is perfect for strolls in the park with bae or shopping downtown. The warm tones called for gold accents as well played by my cat eye sunnies and ear baubles.I hope you all enjoy the look and feel free to comment or even add suggestions for this or future posts! Thanks for stopping by and stay fab :) Sweater (thrift) Faux fur stole (Forever 21, $17.90) Cords (Jessica Simpson , consignment $1 #win) Burgundy buckle Flats (thrift) Leather belt (thrift) Louis Vuitton Speedy (Vintage) Pom Pom charm (Aliexpress, $20) Cat Eye Sunglasses (GoJane.com, $1.90...still on sale!) Ultra Matte lipstick in LAX (colourpop.com , $6) So I have been getting quite a buzz on my Pom Pom Pumps so I am glad to share my secret. It is super easy and inexpensive to transform a pair of pumps from drab to fab!! It's simple as 1,2,3! Step 1 : find fuzzy hair clips (I got these at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 a piece. You will want one for each shoe or two if you want an extra dramatic fuzzy pom look!) Step 2:The Clip should have a metal hinging that allows you to clip it directly to the front of the shoe, near the toe box.Clip to shoe. Step 3: Be Fab!!!!
