Your fave fashion scammer (me) is at is again guys! This time around I have scouted the best boot for your buck. Rihanna set the the summer/fall boot game down with her denim sky high belted boots in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik. She even wore a dance all night friendly version on her Anti Tour equipped with a round toe and chunky heel version that was more practical for the everday heaux.
Now that you are too full to go out and shop let me give you a list of some great places to shop online and #buyblack. Each of these businesses is black-owned and ranges from clothing apparel ,accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics and hair. From low-end to high-end, I got you covered. Click the gallery pics to shop the piece! Hope you enjoy the new format by the way ! My computer hates me.I had it set up to show the price of the item when you hover over the pic, but Weebly is not having it today...my apologies.
It's been a week and I have been itching to post, so yay I'm back.I was working on a special project, which I will discuss later. This season I am all about mixing feminine elements with basics. Something about a light whispy fabric or ruffle detail that really gives 'umph' to a casual look.
Long time no post huh? Well it's only been a week and I have good reason. Hurricane Matthew devasted much of eastern North Carolina.6 days with out lights , tremendous amount of flooding, and fallen trees left me almost immobile. Compared to my neighbors and family back home I didn't lose much , and for that I am thankful.
Hi Kids! *in my Keke Palmer voice. Thanks for stopping by today. The gag for today is *drum roll please JUST BE YOURSELF! Why you ask? Because everyone else is taken. It is so easy to get lost on the sauce in a world of social media and fashion overload, especially as a blogger. There is a thin line between inspiration and emulation which is very easy to get crossed and or blurred. As many of you may know, I love a great inspired look.I may see something on someone and it may spark my imagination and that is how is starts. I also don't mind acknowledging the origins of my inspirations either. In a world, where sometimes style is masked in a uniform look of Olive and nude colored bodycon, middle -parted hair ,flawless makeup, and coke-bottle body types it is refreshing to see so many resist the peer pressure and potential IG likes just to be true to their style. I admire that and that is why I pay homage.
Spring is fast approaching and let me tell you that "Immmm Ready!" *SpongeBob voice. If you live here in NC you will know the weather is severely unpredictable. You can have all four seasons in one week, really! So this post is in anticipation of my fave season, Spring. I really have never done a pink lip, but I am quite surprised that this Wet N Wild 'Don't Blink Pink' complimented me so well.It can be so hard to find the right pink for brown skin, but I found a winner.Considering the lipstick was only $3 at my local CVS, it was really a no brainer.I was recently inspired by the Aquazurra 'pon pon' ankle tie sandals so I made my own #DIYD (do it ya damn self) version. I have a video coming soon , but I am still editing for now. They were really easy to make and inexpensive as well. These sandals are perfect for more many reasons, not only is 'pom pom' everything trending , but its a great way to revamp old worn old basic sandals. Mine were so beat down and worn I had pretty much given up on them. Because colors in both nature and fashion get more vibrant in Spring, these shoes and lipstick are perfect! My orange clutch from GoJane.com ($8) seemed to be the most fitting accessory as I gear up for brighter, warmer and longer days. I love a good statement clutch. A good one can be an eye grabber and a great conversation piece . I let all my accessories (shoes, bag and lips) do all the shining and let my outfit take a back seat. I kept my look simple and fun. My oversized fuzzy sweater (H&M, 12) was paired with one of my fave pair of jeans. The jeans are thrifted Levi's that I deconstructed myself. The style of the jeans are like mom jeans, but because I revamped them I consider them "step mom" jeans (insert roaring laughter here). To all my hip cats and cool daddyo's this is for you! There is a saying "there is nothing new under the sun", which is so true especially in fashion which pretty much is cycle. Even though we are smack-dab middle of the 2010's we are obsessing over all things vintage. This year we are totally submerged in the 70's.From rompers to fringe ,suede, stacked heels, skinny ties and the list goes on of major funky style that has made its way back into our closets or there for the 1st time. Mini dresses have stood the test of time and definitely elongate the legs. Since the days are getting cooler, add some funk to your look with over the knee socks and stacked heel for supa fly style! Button downs ,whether long or short, are a classic that can be worn a million ways. I decided to pair a button down with my mini denim jumper, and added a skinny bowtie as the perfect accessory. Fedoras have made their way into many closets this year ....including yours truly. Hats are a great way to 'top' off a look and make a bold statement. There are many styles of hats to fit any fancy. Personally, I'm pretty obsessed with all of them right now! (*cue "I aint got not type" ) No outfit is complete without a nice bag to flaunt. Buckets bags are so on trend right now, ranging from minis to back packs, and even bigger styles. Fall is the perfect time to definitely add textures into your look so I decided my suede mini bucket bag would fair nicely. My lucky rabbit's foot keychain meshed well with the retro them. Vests are wonderful layering piece that can add both dimension and different textures to your look. They can also elongate the torso too (make sure not to get a vest that cuts off your midsection)! The lovely Chakayla Taylor of www.stylishlydecadent.com came through serving with a suede skirt accented by a fringe top and perfectly fitting head wrap...p.s. she is always slaying the head wrap game. Check out her blog for her full post and her instagram @stylishlydecadent. I hope you enjoyed this post and would love to see my readers Funky 70's inspired looks.
