After my breakdown and coming to terms with 29, I can say I finally feel good about a lot of things. However the stress from overthinking every aspect of my life has me tired.I need a vacay.I'm thinking Cuba...maybe? Yes, Cuba!
It's Aprill, truly the most wonderful time of the years ('cept the pollen). The ground has softened, the birds are singing, my birthday is around the corner (April 15th gifts are being readily accepted lol), and of course people are procreating. Those cold winters really help with that though .

'Creativity is contagious, pass it on' -Albert Einstein. Not only was he one of the most intelligent minds, but also one of the wisest.Just like electrity and currents, creativity flows and continues to flow as long and the path is not blocked, or whatever (you can tell I know nothing of how electricity works). The point is ,the flow of creativity is unstoppable as long as you allow it to be. I am constantly inspired and hopefully in the midst, I have been a source of inspiration as well.

Today is Jamaican Independence day !!!Big ups to the homeland of mi fadda! (to those who don't understand Patois , that's my dad!) In honor of my paternal heritage , I'm going full on Island gyal today!! My dad is more on the religious side so I didn't grow up listening to Reggae , Dancehall, and drinking Rum (its a joke btw...these are just stereotypes).I grew up in church living a very sheltered life. I never knew much of my Jamaican heritage or family until we visited Jamaica the summer before I went to 11th grade.
I didn't know what to expect, but I was excited. The resorts and coconut sipping images drenched in your mind can be thrown out right now. I experienced the real Jamaica , the rural , the local Jamaica. It was enchanting! Me and my brothers walked country dirt roads , the perfume of ripened Mangoes filled the air from local Mango trees hanging over the streets. The first day we got there and were just chilling in my dad's old country neighborhood, a guy stopped me and my brother and said "Are you Brackett's?!" (that's my dad's last name-my maiden name) we had just stumbled upon on of my dad's brothers. He knew we were related because of our big eyes , he said. For two weeks we travelled all over from Negril, Sav-la Mar, Montego Bay, Kingston and a few other places visiting family I had never seen as well as my full of church (we never got a vacation from that.lol).To sum up that trip, I learned firsthand about my Jamaican culture and learn to embrace the simplicities of life. That trip really changed me.
I came home culturally awakened and filled with so much pride. Seeing my island brethren take nothing and make it into something in so many facets of life really got me inspired. So today, I pay homage to the colorful , creative, strong willed dutty whining culture of my Jamaican people.Side note: I will be going to crop over and I will be fully decked out with my glorious cheeks clapping on somebody's float one day!

I have been a repeat offender lately. So in the spirit of the repeat I am slaying the shoulder game once again! My black and white bandage off the shoulder top (Shein, $10..old) perfectly complimented my khaki culottes (Romwe, old).I wanted to go with a Safari type theme so I laced up my snakeskin Zara pumps (old) and grabbed my backpack purse from Shein ($20) to add a pop of color. I kept my accessories simple by pairing my statement necklace from Chanel styles ($10) with some old wooden bangles. We all know I love I good ol' statement piece. This is really where my straw pom pom hat (BCBG, $38..old) came into play. Not only does it coordinate color-wise with my top and pants, but it is also such a fun eye-catching piece that really seals this look.
Today you are all in for a special treat. I have collaborated with some other fantastic bloggers from around the world and they are also baring shoulders. Take a look below on how they all rock the off the shoulder trend: Ig names from top left to right: @stylebykaka , @kaiye_marie , @thebeningirl

Earlier this week I gave a bit of cold shoulder action , but I'm taking it a bit further and exposing all of them shoulders and clavicle bone! My amazing off the shoulder faux sleeve tie up blouse was a deal at only $17.99 from Romwe.com. I was so excited to get this blouse and my brain was buzzing with so many ways to wear it. I wanted to keep the color palette cool, so I paired my new fave blouse with these super cute faux suede olive flares from GoJane.com. I lucked up and got them for $4.95 and they had free shipping that day as well ( I'm such a bargain finder , right? *pats self on the back). I had originally only gotten them because they were so cheap and olive is such a great color, but when they arrived I wasn't sold on them. Inspired by Zara's black flare pants, I grabbed the scissors and cut a nice little triangle out of the front and they instantly became my new pair of summer sexy go-to pants. The hem of the pants call for a flat or short heel , so I pulled out my leather stacked heel sandals from Zara. They are from about 2 summers ago and this is the first time I am wearing them. They were another one of my 'got them because they were cheap' purchases. They were originally $119, but I snagged them for $19.99 at the wee end of Zara's semi annual sale.I live for a good deal as I am sure you may already know if you frequent my blog.
Speaking of deals, let me inform you of my new destination for discounted luxury goods. I was minding my business on Facebook, and an add pops up for therealreal.com.I clicked it and now I'm obsessed! They feature brand new and gently used authenticated designer brands like Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Givenchy, and Christian Louboutin, just to name a few at upwards of 80% off retail! My bamboo Gucci bullet bag (from the Tom Ford era of Gucci), which originally retailed for $1,400, was now about to be mine for $385 with 20% off. I gave no second thoughts and added it to my cart so fast and checked out in less than 2 minutes flat. If that is still steep for your budget, no worries they offer a finance plan where you can break down the price into monthly payments as well. Are you sold yet? Well if not, more for me.
