Champagne wishes and caviar dreams......the story of my life *stares out window. I don't really mind wishing though, it keeps me optimistic. Pink , Blush, Rose and all shades in between the pink spectrum are slowly making their way back into my wardrobe , as I am sure you can tell. For Fall, I find pairing with Burgundy is one the feminine combos you can have. Add a splash of gold and you have a winner.
Hi Kids! *in my Keke Palmer voice. Thanks for stopping by today. The gag for today is *drum roll please JUST BE YOURSELF! Why you ask? Because everyone else is taken. It is so easy to get lost on the sauce in a world of social media and fashion overload, especially as a blogger. There is a thin line between inspiration and emulation which is very easy to get crossed and or blurred. As many of you may know, I love a great inspired look.I may see something on someone and it may spark my imagination and that is how is starts. I also don't mind acknowledging the origins of my inspirations either. In a world, where sometimes style is masked in a uniform look of Olive and nude colored bodycon, middle -parted hair ,flawless makeup, and coke-bottle body types it is refreshing to see so many resist the peer pressure and potential IG likes just to be true to their style. I admire that and that is why I pay homage.
I too don't need dollar bills to have fun tonight, Sia. My money is already spent on my outfit *sly smirk.
It's the 1st day of Fall y'all (ugh that was real country , right? lol) and I am ready to whip out boots, belts, jackets and layer until my heart is content. However living in North Carolina, the weather just 'isn't reeeeaddyyy' *Kevin Hart voice.I have skipped the jacket (for now) , but I'm busting out the boots and the nude colored looks.
So , yea...... I'm not going to London Fashion Week either *cries in Burberry .As a lover of all things street fashion, I love a good fashion week especially across the pond. The eccentricity and playfulness is just something I live for , yet have never experience first-hand. For now,I will live vicariously through my IG fam in London; but honestly I think I would fit in just fine.
I have been feeling blue all week--literally feeling the color blue! I think I will really be adding all the hues of blue in heavy rotation this Fall and Winter. From my pastel Blue Embroidered Moto Jacket , to the Navy Floral Embroidered look from Wednesday, and today's Baby blue-hued Jumpsuit I have be showing my appreciation for this color all week. I have been feeling nostalgic about my good ol' college days and doing research papers (is that weird? lol), so I decided to do a little research on the color blue. According to www.colormatters.com blue is the #1 favorite color of all people worldwide. While it doesn't specify the most popular shade, based on the significance of the color I can see why it is reigning color king. Dark blue signifies authority, intelligence, and trust which is why the dark blue suit is such a common occurrence in the business world. Light blue (in reverence to sky blue) holds a more spiritual other realm-ness. It is used to represent traquility, peace, and serenity-- all feelings that are reflected when just sky or cloud watching. Over time the complexities of the color meaning have shifted its meaning from that of serenity and power to feelings of sadness. This can be attributed to the American culture and specifically the musical genre , the 'Blues".Up, down, high or low, regardless of how it makes you feel blue stands on its on as a power tone.Let's get into the look shall we.....
Coco Chanel is known as one of the best to ever do it in the fashion world. By 'it' I mean exude confidence, set the trends, all during the turn of the century when women were preferred to be seen rather than heard. I initially planned on just starting this post with one of her famous quotes, however I was swept up in her back story and decided to share with my readers. Born into poverty, Gabrielle Bonhuer ('Coco') Chanel, was given up by her father once her mother passed to be raised in a orphanage. From shop girl, cafe' singer, and mingler with the well-to-do, she received financial backing to open her first shop.Initially selling sportswear 1913, she made luxury her niche. Deviating from the petticoats and corsets of the time, she revolutionized women's wear with such items as the woman's 'suit' and the LBD(little black dress) .Her story really resonated with me for some reason. I think...wait I know it is her humble beginnings that make her that more relatable to a poor woman like me lol. She didn't just take the hand she was dealt by life, she shuffled the deck and made it work to her advantage. "My life didn't please me, so I created my life"--one of her most famous quotes and testament to her life. Her rags to expensive rags and riches life serves as an inspiration to many. Coco Chanel, I salute you! It's rare that I shoot in public, because I don't like to be bothered or looked at ( it makes me nervous, lol). However I had business to attend to and the scenery was lovely so I took a chance.Little did I know what I would find myself getting into. For starters, get into my eye-catching look.My striped skirt is a crowd pleaser and is available here. The white bodysuit top with chain detail I am wearing is sold out, sorry ladies. My bird embroidered jacket vegan leather is a fun little piece and makes its own statement.Wearing pastels in Fall and Winter are a nice and unexpected. The jacket was $42 and can be purchased here.I am wearing the medium so that should give you an idea for your sizing. My sequin eye purse is sold out but they have 3 other colors still available at $22 a piece.Who would have thought I would run into a bird that matched my blue bird tassel earrings, but I did! The owner was walking his parrot (named Macy) and his dog (didn't know his name) and asked if we wanted to take a pic with his parrot. I was feeling bold and little did I know the parrot clearly went with my aviary theme. It was clearly meant to be--what a day! Here it is another New York Fashion Week and I am stuck in the Carolinas! I'm over it! I promise I am gonna start living right so next year I can be in the hustle and bustle of the street style stars. Fashion week always brings out my favorite type of fashion-- street fashion. Bold colors, ornate footwear, and statement pieces galore are what you can expect to see.The individuality is really what gets me. When I drool at pics from fashion week online I think to myself" Geez, I wonder how long they tried on clothes to pull this fab look together?" *sulks and drinks Moscato. Instead of drowning my fashion woes in wine this year I am going to inspire! Every week will be my fashion week and I can be a street style star on a country dirt road if I want, and I am so here goes. Since street style is all about mixing the unexpected, I decided to play down this A-line skirt (get an extra 10% off this skirt by using code COWGIRL at checkout) from Coastal Couture Boutique by adding a bright colored bomber. My bomber is currently sold out, but you can find a bomber to suit your fancy here. Keeping with my bold 'eye'-catching theme I slid into my yellow Rupert Sanderson Minion pumps (sold out). Not only are they yellow with eyeballs on them , but there are big lashes at the heel of the shoe, too cute! My green satin bomber has appliques on it with splashes of pink and blue. Being the 'extra' person that I am I coordinated my make up by using electric blue eyeliner (elf, $2) and Wet 'n Wild pink matte lipstick ($3).I kept accessories light but fun.I matched my pearl ear headband with my pearl choker for a touch of feminine flair. My mini wannabe-Birkin (thirfted) is loaded with fun furry accessories for extra appeal. So do you think this look is street style worthy or nah? |
