*ques American Woman by Lenny Kravtiz
*ques No Letting go by Wayne Wonder Proceeds to ask the DJ to mix them bih's together. That.is.my.essence. It's not Thursday, but I am gonna throw it back like it's 99 and Juvenille and Cash Money is on the track. Well, I am actually throwing it back further than that. My mom is obsessed with Burgundy and she is such a fierce uppity southern lady, so this look is all inspired by her. I am also sharing a bit about myself. I know it sounds weird but I am interviewing myself today. I am learning how important it is to share.
I'm keeping it under wraps all week with Shop Feline.I am wearing one of their solid color head wraps tied in a bow for the ultimate feminine Old Hollywood glam.Shop them here to see all of their fab pieces. You know how much I love Burgundy , so get used to seeing a lot of it this season.
TWell look at that, Monday is upon us once again! I hope you all liked my last post about my #DIYD Aquazurra inspired pom pom sandals.I tried to make it as easy as possible. Black is such a wonderful color which is why I did these in black. Black is just everything; elegance ,neutrality, formal, casual...like I said Everything!! I was so excited to put together a look for my latest creations. I opted for a fun yet sultry date night ensemble with somewhat regal influence. My #DIYD convertible wrap top was giving me all kinds of goddess inspiration , and the black well you know black is just everything. I styled it one shoulder style to bring some sexy back a al Justin Timberlake. The chiffon pleated culottes (Shein.com $8) incorporate both trend and a flowy silhouette, perfect for a night out. To play up on my golden brown skin, I went with gold accessories. I love flash tattoos (too chicken for a real one, don't judge me...or do...I'm notorious punk) so a stuck a few on my shoulder, arm and collarbone. My gold plated belt (Gojane, $7) was a nice touch to compliment my tribal inspired earrings (Romwe.com $3.80) and my gold cuff that I so savagely took from my mom's stash #iaintsorry. My weave patterned clutch (H&M, $5) which resembles a raffia palm in texture provided extra hints and chic yet summer vibes. This bag can easily transition from a day to night clutch as well. Below is the link for my post on my #diyd top http://caribbeancowgirl.weebly.com/blog/diyd-do-it-ya-damn-self-how-to-be-a-wrapper So I was minding my business and browsing online like I always do and I saw this Multi-way body suit. I was totally gonna buy it , but my account was like, 'Nah kid'. I begin to vent my frustrations to one of my fashionista friends who reassured and comforted me by telling me I had too many clothes already (she is right..I guess *eye roll) Then it hit me, why pay for it when you can DO IT YA DAMN SELF?!!! and boom there you have it! I made this top in a bout 3 mins flat! Perfect for date night, out with the girls, a formal occasions, or pare it down with some jeans. BTW it only took $3 to make. Here is what you need: 6-10 medium size safety pins 1/2 to 1 yd Jersey fabric (make sure the width is 2 yards) (from local craft store-Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Joanns, Michaels)..I got black and mocha Pair of thin or seamless panties or briefs the same color of fabric (optional) I got the jersey (stretchy ) fabric from Walmart. It was very wide; 2 yards wide (72 in) so I 1/2 yard (18 in) is all I needed to purchase. The fabric was only $1.94 a yard. Make sure its wide because the width of fabric on the bolt will be the length for when you cut it for the 2 long pieces for the top. If you want to ensure precise cutting(to avoid raggedy edges like mine), you can ask the associate to cut that 1/2 yard the long way into 2 , 9inch wide 72in long pieces of fabric. You can either pin the fabric to the front of a pair of mid-rise briefs or even to the front of a pair of pant or skirt. Make sure the under garments aren't too high or they could show. Just start pinning each piece using the side seam of briefs as one end and the middle of the front of the briefs as the other. Repeat and you are done. If you want to make it official, just sew the fabric to the briefs using the same guidelines. The pic below shows how it will look from the inside.Pins should not show once worn. Also if your edges are a lil rough its ok, just fold it under, the jersey fabric holds well.I hope you all really like this post! I really loved making this and just wanted to share the idea to save you all a few coins. Please comment and I would love to see how you do it ya damn self!Enjoy;) |
