Sorry guys, I know I am only posting once this week, but I have really good reason.I’m tired, bih. When I get home I eat , Netflix and chill with my daughter only to fall asleep and wake up at like 1am wondering what century I am in.The past weekend I decided to only shoot one look so I could enjoy my family all day.We all did an activity we needed or something we have been wanting to do.My husband got a much needed acupressure massage, I got a spa pedicure (never had one btw, I’m hooked), and my daughter got to go on a super cool mini train ride and meet her new fave person, Moana.I could not even convince her that it was just an impersonator *sighs in parental. I’m so glad you guys enjoyed the last post.Scam is life, ok? Lol.In addition to all the blog love I received, my Jacquard striped dress received even more attention! I’m literally still in shock at the likes and follows I received. My last pic of the dress has received over 3,800 likes and counting, not to mention over a 1,000 new followers! So how did this happen? Well, I’m no scientist but I have a few theories after doing a bit of research.I do consider myself a social media strategist.I mean, shit everybody on IG claims to be one and doesn't share half the things I do *shots fired. You remember how I was saying image quality is everything?! Well, it sorta is.I yelled at my husband tirelessly to get these pictures right with attention to all the details including emphasizing the shine of the Jacquard fabric dress.I knew this would be important because that is what immediately drew me in when I first saw blogger Skinny Hipster wearing it.The dress itself was a hit , but editing, posting during suggested times, and engagement really helped the momentum and reach of these photos. Little did I know how well this combination would work in my favor.I posted 3 pics from this shoot. The first pic did well with 800 likes, the second fairing better with 1,400, and the third with a staggering 3,800 likes and counting! Yes still counting since last Saturday! Along with the likes I gained about 1,000 followers. Not just any followers, but many quality followers. Quality followers means the difference between fluctuating numbers , engagement, and reach. So what exactly is a quality follower? A quality follower is one that would be your desired audience (for me that is fashion and beauty) and not only engages with you but follows others that do the same and so forth. For example, gaining 5 followers that have only 100 followers no engagement and rarely posts is not as valuable as ONE follower with 5k followers, posts consistently, and lots of engagement in the comment section of their photos. On to the next question, where dey at tho? Most likely there are already somehow following someone you follow but showing up their radar is pretty simple.Going to one of your follower's pages with high followers and engagement and check out their comments. You will find others who share your niche, and you may find a new friend or two.I know I have found plenty to add to my instafamily.Unlike visuals, I would not call this baiting but more like networking in your network.Don't fake convos hoping for a follow back. That's tacky.Show genuine interest in their content and engage them on a genuine level other than "nice look".Go their page and 'engage' them or even check out their IG stories and if they are interesting ,slide in them DM's.I know I respond faster to my DM's many times because it's easier. Remember: you are more likely to be seen as a commenter versus being just a 'liker'.Be visible. Oh yea, and another thing.Your photo captions should mean something. In social media strategizing (yea get used to that term I'm gonna wear the hell out of it),it's referred to as a 'call of action'.Think of it like this.If I have a picture of me smiling with the caption "smile" vs "Even with all the reasons I have to frown, a smile still suits me more.Smiling through it all" which one is more likely to get you to comment? In layman's terms, #deathtothebasiccaption there isn't a need for a novel on every post either but make your captions count and engaging. Let me tell you this quick story guys.Ok , so I was sharing the good news of how my pic was slaying the gram in this group on Facebook. I was saying how picture quality can really help increase the reach of your pic. I had about 15 comments with ‘Congrats’ and other good things, but then there was this one…This nobody had the nerve to say ‘that happens when get on the explore page, the picture didn’t have much to do with it’ followed by a smug smiley face emoji.”Mc’cuse me bitch?!” Well how do you get the Explore page without having something good to look at? How does it get there if it isn’t already garnering likes? How Sway? Immediately triggered by her willful stupidity and her utter hateration and holleration in my dancery, I quickly head to her page and Instagram. Her IG says ‘social media strategist’, however her weeeak engagement levels and dryyyy pics determined that to be a lie.Having 20k followers with 300-500 likes and 24 comments means you have trash followers or you bought them. That my friend is no strategy, that is not even scamming. That’s just faking for the gram on the most basic of levels .The jig is up sis.Instead of blasting her out and proving my expertise in the group, I instead commented back to everyone except her.My spirit lead to ignore her, for she was just a hater.Don’t tell me what I am doing to get where I am if you are nowhere *claps hands.Never.do.that. That would be like me trying to tell an engineer what equipment they need based on some articles I read in Popular Mechanics while waiting to get my oil changed. You gotta stick to what you know and if you don’t know something, just hush and listen.Okay, rant over. "you got any more of them quality followers?" In the midst of my IG blow up, I still took the time to comment back to those commenters even though it was almost overwhelming.Your followers want to know they are valued for more than just another follower closer to your numbers goal. Even if you aren't posting consistently you should still engage your followers or even do IG stories to keep them updated on the 'haps'.Don't be stuck up, comment back! In addition to commenting back I tried to scan through my new followers and like some pic and comment on pages that genuinely drew my interest. I also followed some back that I enjoyed and would be beneficial quality followers. You can't follow them all back. Remember to ask yourself these questions? -What type of followers do I want? -Do I have them? -Am I consistent in engaging? -Am I attracting quality or quantity? -Am I connecting with my followers? Quality attracts quality. Having quality followers of influence make you more attractive to follow.Even if you have less followers, it's the quality that counts. The numbers will come, don't worry.People wonder how you have such influential followers and will follow you just because of that (and your content of course) and the next thing you know, you are at 5k,10k! Following everyone back can really negatively impact your reach and engagement. The IG algorithms use everything and every aspect which can help or hurt you.Ghost or non-active followers can keep you stagnant and hinder your true audience from reaching you.Just like split ends, you got to cut them thangs off bih.I use the app Follow Cop for Android to view ghost followers as well as to see who unfollowed me so I can unfollow that ass right on back!! I don't play that follow/unfollow game for growth and I remember who follow/unfollows me so don't be trying to follow me when I blow up,cuz I aint following back! Now let's get into my look! I'm still waiting for my baby bump to show up so there's that.In the mean time, I had to seize the opportunity to wear thse high-waist ruffle shorts (that I scammed last year from the site that shan't be named). My shoes are a 7.5 so I ordered the 39 and they are a perfect fit. There is only one pair left (size 39) shop below my clicking the pic in the gallery. I scammed...errr scored my shorts last year but I found some amazing paper bag high waist short on Pretty Little Thing that do the trick! If you want my straw boater I posted a link to that in my previous post or you can click here. It's now $20 and they only have four left! These bamboo bags got bloggers fighting in the street to get their hands on one.I'm clearly lying, but they are very covetable at the moment.Shop mine for $24 compared the sold out Cult Gaia one at over $100.The rest of my look can be shopped below, for the low. That's just how I roll. That's all for now folks! I hope I was able to help inspire you to not give up on IG just yet and not to give up on scamming for the best price. For these, are my only goals in life lol.
