Knock knock. Who's there? Nodody . Nobody who? Nobody Jones. Who? Nobody Jones Boutique! On today's installment of black-owned boutiques ,and the first day of Black History Month, I am hitting the west coast. In the city of Angels (Los Angeles) I bring to you Nobody Jones Boutique. This boutique is has a list of star-studded clientele and home to some of the dopest not-seen-anywhere styles! From the most laid back fits, denim galore and hand made designs by owner, Odessa Bowden.Take a look at some of their pieces and their many celeb patrons in the slideshow below.Shop their site www.nobodyjones.cartel.com or style stalk them on IG @nobodyjonesboutique This fun yet casual top is also one of their pieces. It is really a fun floral and I love the idea of brown and blue together and the pussy bow detail as well. For my chill yet bold casual L.A. inspired look, I paired my NJB top with a fun denim skirt pant (how neat, right?) from Zara .I decided to go with a bold lip, because if I was in the city where you can become a star you want to be seen. Throwing on a yellow moto jacket and grabbing my ASOS floral boots (sold out) I am officially chill with a side of extra. Do you think I can get discovered? lol My top is not available on their online site. Shop each piece by clicking each pic Ego Official has a range of floral boots.Shop other styles here and use code TREAT20 to get 20% off!! I found a yellow jacket in plus as well! So how did I come to collaborate with the amazing Nobody Jones Boutique? To tell you the truth it almost never happened. You see, I have this fear well had this fear.A crippling fear of rejection and the word 'no'. When I started blogging I would reach out to small boutiques I found and enjoyed and asked if they would like to collaborate. They pretty much asked me a whole back story of my life, credit check, followers, who I had worked with, last person I kissed ,etc (I am being dramatic but you get it) all for them to not respond. I am not gonna lie, it was a blow to me. Like did you even go to my page and look at my style or do you care about superficial numbers? The worst was when I reached out to a NC owned boutique. I really wanted to show love to my home state and bring about a new audience (I also wanted a free piece) but I really wanted to work on making connections locally. This happened I would say about 3 times and told myself once I am poppin', they bett' not ask to work with me;I don't forget a thing.Ego and hurt feelings aside, I look back and I am thankful for those no's. They inspired me to go harder and aim higher. Since these rejections (by the basics who missed out on the best thing they never had) I have had multiple requests to collaborate, but these offers were brought to me.I was still not ready to hear the word 'no' again. On one of my daily stalkings of Fashionbombdaily, I came across Nobody Jones Boutique.Claire ,editor -in-chic, was always speaking so highly of this black-owned L.A. Boutique and was always wearing fabulous items from there. So I began to follow them on IG and fell in love even more with their pieces and fun Cali vibes. I really loved how they got so much love from my fave black celebs. There is not one thing I can not say I don't love about Nobody Jones Boutique. So after doing a few push ups and pep-talking to myself in the mirror I got the courage to email the owner (I'm lying, I had a glass of wine).I What if she told me 'no'? Does she know how that will hurt me? I didn't care about that anymore, because 'no' does not mean 'never' .Sometimes we need a 'no' to keep us humble out here in these streets.Sometimes we aren't as good as we think we are. Luckily for me, she responded almost immediately and I screamed and did a lil shoulder bounce. Not only was she down to collab but she had been following my style *screams in fashion. I was so honored. It made me reflect back to those no's once again and how they led to this yes. So here I am collaborating with a brand who dresses celebs, God is too good up in here (where is my tambourine?)!I know I have blabbed a lot today but I hope everyone got the gist of what was said. Don't let a 'no' stop you. Don't let 5 no's stop you. Of course it may delay you, but DO NOT stop. That YES waiting for you is better than all the no's, trust me!

Omg shoulder bouncing with you! I can so relate with this post, I'm terrified to reach out and being told no. Slowly overcoming that!! Girl, doors are going to continue to open, and I'm looking forward to that spread in the magazine. You are very inspiring

Hahaha your posts are always so entertaining to read. I laughed out loud when I read the bit about they missed out on the best thing that could have happened to them! The styling on this pushes boundaries, where many would look like they have lost their marbles, you look incredibly street chic :)
