I too don't need dollar bills to have fun tonight, Sia. My money is already spent on my outfit *sly smirk.

So , yea...... I'm not going to London Fashion Week either *cries in Burberry .As a lover of all things street fashion, I love a good fashion week especially across the pond. The eccentricity and playfulness is just something I live for , yet have never experience first-hand. For now,I will live vicariously through my IG fam in London; but honestly I think I would fit in just fine.
Here it is another New York Fashion Week and I am stuck in the Carolinas! I'm over it! I promise I am gonna start living right so next year I can be in the hustle and bustle of the street style stars. Fashion week always brings out my favorite type of fashion-- street fashion. Bold colors, ornate footwear, and statement pieces galore are what you can expect to see.The individuality is really what gets me. When I drool at pics from fashion week online I think to myself" Geez, I wonder how long they tried on clothes to pull this fab look together?" *sulks and drinks Moscato. Instead of drowning my fashion woes in wine this year I am going to inspire! Every week will be my fashion week and I can be a street style star on a country dirt road if I want, and I am so here goes. Since street style is all about mixing the unexpected, I decided to play down this A-line skirt (get an extra 10% off this skirt by using code COWGIRL at checkout) from Coastal Couture Boutique by adding a bright colored bomber. My bomber is currently sold out, but you can find a bomber to suit your fancy here. Keeping with my bold 'eye'-catching theme I slid into my yellow Rupert Sanderson Minion pumps (sold out). Not only are they yellow with eyeballs on them , but there are big lashes at the heel of the shoe, too cute! My green satin bomber has appliques on it with splashes of pink and blue. Being the 'extra' person that I am I coordinated my make up by using electric blue eyeliner (elf, $2) and Wet 'n Wild pink matte lipstick ($3).I kept accessories light but fun.I matched my pearl ear headband with my pearl choker for a touch of feminine flair. My mini wannabe-Birkin (thirfted) is loaded with fun furry accessories for extra appeal. So do you think this look is street style worthy or nah? Long time no post huh? lol It's been a couple weeks and I was feeling a bit over worked, but I'm ready to get back at it.Beyonce's new athletic wear line with Top Shop, Ivy Park inspired the name for today's post. There is a park near my house in Harrells, NC so how perfect was that? My whole life I have been pretty body conscious, so I monitored what I ate as far as portion-wise and got in my 4 bottles of water a day. This year I made the decision to give up meat , bread, minimize processed food and develop a more plant-based ,non-GMO diet. I constantly felt sluggish and suffered from problem skin , which prompted my new eating adaptations. To help me jumpstart my new ways of eating, I started with a detox tea. Not only does it help rid the body of toxins and backup waste ,but also helps reduce cravings. Recently my daily meals usually consist of a fresh organic fruit smoothie for breakfast ,light lunch of hummus, avocado and sweet potato chips or a salad with apple cider vinegar as dressing. As soon as I get home around 5:30 I eat dinner.Eating an early dinner gives me a chance to burn off some of the calories I ate and reduce the chance of indigestion brought on by eating too late. Lately I have been in love with sautéed veggie tacos, which is what I usually have for dinner. While it is light and it can be surprisingly filing! It has been only four months and within the 1st month my skin was completely clear and I was no longer having monthly breakouts. I still have my lazy days but overall, I am much more energetic. My eating habits have changed, but I am not a food snob my any means. If I wants sweets or a slice of pizza, I eat it and don't feel guilty, unless the food doesn't agree with me. Unfortunately this happened last week when I forgot to pack my lunch and decided on Crab Rangoon. I don't know if it was because it was fried, or some other reason, but let's just say I learned my lesson. Once you detox your body of junk food, your body may reject it when you try to eat it again. This has happened to me more than once. It's important to listen to your body. Exercise alone won't change much if your diet consists of junk. Believe it or not, I just started working out a few weeks ago. It's not a daily thing or strenuous, however if it wasn't for my change in eating I would have no motivation. I usually don't discuss my weight, but I hopped on the scale the other day and to my surprise I was 110 lbs. haven't weighed that since 5th grade. I'm only 5'2'' so that is a reasonable healthy weight for me and as you can see I am far from skin and bones. Do everything in moderation and don't compare yourself or body to anyone else's. My personal fitness and body goals are simple. I just want to love what I see in the mirror. I'm not really concerned about looking extra curvy in clothes or being a thicky-thick girl because if you don't keep it tight that coke bottle can turn into a 2 liter real quick! By no means am I body shaming anyone, I just want to stress the importance of loving your body and not obsessing over someone else's. If you can't reach your body and fitness goals through diet and exercise, it's time to reevaluate. You are what you eat so eat well! Statement Hat-$1 Dollar Tree -iron on decals #DIYD V-neck-$3.80 Forever 21 Knit Flares -$7.99, on sale Forever 21.com Plaid Button down -$5 Brooks Brothers Shirt Factory Outlet Wedge Sneakers-Puma- $55 -can't remember the sneaker website but Saksofffifth.com had them as well Bonjour mon peeps!! lol Excuse my Franglish , but I am just trying to lively up your day with a bit of French inspiration! I have always loved many aspects of French culture. I studied French in both high school and college and my middle name is Renee (which I casually go by when I refer to myself in French (not First) person..lol) So being enamored with the romance and street style of the fashion capital, Paris, I am here to serve up le Fashion du jour. Let me just tell you how in love I am with this boater hat (H&M, $7)!! I just love it! I feel like a new age Madeline (all my 80's babies should get the reference). It can take a look to a feminine ,chic, and somewhat dapper. Wide leg pants that are somewhat cropped really can give a look a much more masculine yet structural look. I chose to pair my black wide leggers (Shein.com $9) with a with button down dress (Brook Brothers factory outlet $19.99).The length really gave me twist on the typical black and white ensemble. In French fashion, I added a feminine bow (thrift , $3) to my button down. Accessory layering is also becoming one of my newest hobbies. By stacking my pearl choker with my bowtie I am maximizing tow minimalist pieces without looking gaudy. However it wasn't enough. As you all may know by now , I live for a standout look. So I grabbed a silk color block Bill Blass scarf (thrift, $3) and folded in diagonally and tied it in the back and boom!! The bright primary colors of my scarf seemed to take my look from 'oh' to 'ooh la la!!' I needed a shoe to accentuate my skinny ankles, but not take away from my look .My Just Fab (14.99) zip-up pumps appeared to do the trick. My mini bag is a oldie but goodie from Zara.com ($10), and of course I added a little pom pom just for the sake of fashion. I hope you all really enjoy this look as much as I did putting it together and shooting it. |
