Mondays, am I right? My mood is on straight Garfield minus the lasagna. I don't want to bore you with the details but let's just say I didn't make it in to work today and the backseat of my whip is covered in maple syrup. Kids....yea-- over them! My Saturday ,aka my only day to shoot, started off very Monday-ey.I woke up to a Monsoon outside my window.Funny, I don't remember pulling out the Jumanji board game , but I digress. The only good thing that came out of that was I had plenty of time to beat my face, and boy did I ever.I was exceptionally proud of the purple ombre lip you see before you.The lipstick gods shined on me in my time of need *praise be to Colourpop.I used on the outpart of my lips the Colourpop Guess ultra matte and Be-Dazzled (sold out) on the inner bottom lip.I also whipped out my new Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay ($14 on Groupon, yes I am a bawse!) I only got one because I wanted to see what the hype was about. It was a great $14 buy, but you can bet I would not pay $54 original price for one! *girl bye .I also flexrodded my hair which I haven't done in over a year because of lazy and more lazy.I wanted more volume in the top , but it was raining cats and dogs and I had to accept the shrinkage I could not change. So here I am trying to find shelter under which to shoot.Oh yea, I forgot to mention I had to meet an old college friend and new client for some personal shopping in a city 2 hours away.It was cold, wet, and somehow and bit humid--North Carolina, I tell ya.Holding on to my 4c flexrod curls and my impeccable beat I slay at an abandoned gas station.I usually have more shots but I was getting my fuss on and I am a perfectionist, so well...here! lol The dress? Oh, this ol' thing?! *laughs in bougie .I somehow lucked up and won a contest on a fashion page on IG @stylegoestochurch and received this dress. The dress was gifted by Morocks Collections and is now currently sold out.I did reach out to the owner just to get a little information about her business. Morocks actually started in Nigeria back in 2006 *aaaaayyyee Naijaaaaaaa. However a shift in economy lead to a change in the rate of success, due to increased competition. Now housed in Houston, Texas (*sings my daddy Alabama, mama lousiana, you mix that negro with that creole get a Texas Baaammmmaaaa!!!) the clothing retailer is able to continue and expand her business not only promoting her items, but also the idea modesty is beautiful.Faith and Fashion are her two worlds and wants to convey her love for both. I relate to this on such a personal level. As I have mentioned before I grew up in a strict religious home so pants , above the knee dresses, as well as tank tops were a "no" *que up bible verse. I admire that there is a mission behind her fashion. Beauty truly is more that skin deep and skin exposed.Check out her stunning pieces on IG @morockit Speaking of scams, so after I shot all my looks I met my friend/client at the mall for some shopping and consulting. We pass by Sephora. I know this may sound weird, but I never went in one before. I hate overpriced places with no clearance section. After going there I stand by my word that they are over priced, for the most part. I head over to ask how much it is for a full face and the lady says '$50'.I proceed to 'Bye Felecia' the whole place until my friend/client Jackie says they let you try all the products in the store. I was like "for reals?!, Let's get to work then!". I wasted no time matching her, concealing, higlighting, and contouring with the 'buffet of beat' laid before me. Workers stood by and watched and even asked what makeup I had on, I proudly let them know 'I am in full drugstore beat' (except my lips and eye shadow), as I was. My foundation is Loreal fit match,Rimmel highlighting concealer, and Wet n Wild highlighter.Anyway back to the beat, I give Jackie a full face of over $200 worth of products for free anndd get the 'yasss girl' approval from the Sephora crew. We then b-line out the place like we stole something only to laugh in Joanne the Scammer fashion all the way to Brookstone for our turn in their over priced massage chairs! It turned out to be a great Saturday; which my Monday is turning around even though I feel a pimple forming on my chin.Sometimes you gotta scam yourself into making your day better, whether by actually scamming (like moi) or just scamming your mind to think it will get better.I have yet to learn the latter.Have a great day my loves
