"I'm every woman. It's all in me. Anything you want done baby, I'll do it naturalllllyy!" -Whitney Houston If you didn't know this song was originally sung by Chaka Khan. However you may have noticed, Whit (God rest her soul), shouts her out and during the "im every woman" run at the end. This is what sisterhood and support in the music industry looks like! Queens recognize queens and uplift them regardless of the arena. Should I proceed to discuss the Remy Ma and Nicki situation? Not really, no. That is what you call a battle of the words by two lyricists. What I should bring up is the fact that Nicki Minaj came on the scene drenched in Lil Kim in almost everyway *sips tea and looks into the Hip Hop Hooray distance.I won't bring that up either, but my point is that we as women should always keep each other lifted up and revere each other. If you frequent my blog, then you know that is something I live by. It's like how could I not uplift another woman ? How could I not support another woman? How could I not uplift someone who looks like me and shares the same struggles as me? That would be crazy (I was gonna type ludicrous , but I didn't want you to wander and and think of Ludacris the rapper, after all it is International Women's Day). I celebrate women on the blog as much as possible, however there is one woman I forgot to uplift. She is me. I was always taught to be humble.Humilty is what God desires, and so forth.I grew up as a sheltered church child , okay lol.Because of this, it is hard or seemingly awkward for me to accept compliments. I usually do what I do best, and deflect them by complimenting the other person. Now don't get it twisted ,all my compliments are genuine. It's just that I never want to be one of those people who take a compliment for granted, as if it is owed to me.However the older I get , the more I learn; and shed my somewhat timid and overthinking ways. My look is a what I consider Naughty-cal (nautical) themed. The striped top paired with my old red skinny pants, peacoat, and my new paperboy hat really gave the feeling of seafarer chic.My striped ankle ties pumps (asos, sold out) were a fun statement shoe that happened to coordinate ever so effortlessly. The fishnets and harness belt really brought the naughty here, but it really helped balance the look in my opinion. Also, can we get into this perfect backdrop? I swear I just lucked up and found this location last minute.I look like a New England dream right now *orders clam chowda'. Shop each piece by clicking each pic below! I'm celebrating me today because I deserve it! Shooting my looks this weekend got off to a rocky start. So first off, I had to meet with my accountant to get my taxes done which was a last minute thing.I live in the country so I had to travel 45 mins to Wilmington ,NC to meet with him by 10:30 am.Foregoing my plans to finally sleep in on a Saturday, I wake up early to throw all 3 looks in the car, making sure not to forget any accessories, get my daughter dressed and do her hair, and then get my self dressed, do my hair and beat my face. I did all of this and was still ready before hubs *rolls eyes.I did forget to mention, I pin curled my hair to make it more voluminous but they still needed time to set. So guess who rolled into the accountants office with a head full of pinned curls and rollers? I .felt .no. shame. So we dip out of the tax office, I forgot to tell you how unprepared we were for that (even though I had placed all the tax docs in a specific pile in the kitchen, but I digress) and head to find locations. The first shoot went off pretty well even though it was pretty chilly out.My sweet daughter sat in the car trolling YouTube for videos pertaining to "Trolls" (I made a funny , ha!) while I gave face for the camera. Shooting for the second look, which is the one I am wearing now, well....ugh!! So I'm parked on a side street with people walking by and I already getting ill because I was yelling at hubs (don't worry he apparently likes it when I fuss) about taking my pics right (I'm tragic, I know this).I spot a location around the corner to shoot, but I have nowhere to change.Thank goodness for tinted windows! I'm in the car ripping off clothes , butt cheeks on bucket seat(I wore a thong with my infinitely wise self), and arms flailing to pull off my dress.I make dysfunction look good, damn good! I do this one more time to shoot my final look (posting on Friday).Which include a change in lipstick and more butt to bucket seat action on a side street in a residential area. Let's just say I am pro at changing clothes ,hair ,makeup and whatever else and can do it anywhere and make it look good. I'm every woman, blogger, mom, and much and I chose to celebrate it! I'm celebrating with shoes. I already bought them. They are from Zara, stay tuned (Don't tell hubs ok? Thanks!). Look who decided to join me for a pic? She looks just like my hubs ...nothing like me at all.I think I need a blood test.I don't know who her mother is *proceeds to call Maury
