H&M is always snatching coins every November with their amazing designer collabs. From Balmain, Alexander Wang, and most recently Kenzo. These innovative partnerships give the financially challenged and 'balling on a budget' types like myself a chance to be street style fabulous within our means. I am also thankful that Kim Kardashian doesn't wear Kenzo because I would have never had a chance to snatch a piece from the collection *insert dry laughter here.

I love to experiment and try new things.I have been wanting to try a new lip color for a while now and finally got the courage to do so.
Long time no post huh? Well it's only been a week and I have good reason. Hurricane Matthew devasted much of eastern North Carolina.6 days with out lights , tremendous amount of flooding, and fallen trees left me almost immobile. Compared to my neighbors and family back home I didn't lose much , and for that I am thankful.
Here it is another New York Fashion Week and I am stuck in the Carolinas! I'm over it! I promise I am gonna start living right so next year I can be in the hustle and bustle of the street style stars. Fashion week always brings out my favorite type of fashion-- street fashion. Bold colors, ornate footwear, and statement pieces galore are what you can expect to see.The individuality is really what gets me. When I drool at pics from fashion week online I think to myself" Geez, I wonder how long they tried on clothes to pull this fab look together?" *sulks and drinks Moscato. Instead of drowning my fashion woes in wine this year I am going to inspire! Every week will be my fashion week and I can be a street style star on a country dirt road if I want, and I am so here goes. Since street style is all about mixing the unexpected, I decided to play down this A-line skirt (get an extra 10% off this skirt by using code COWGIRL at checkout) from Coastal Couture Boutique by adding a bright colored bomber. My bomber is currently sold out, but you can find a bomber to suit your fancy here. Keeping with my bold 'eye'-catching theme I slid into my yellow Rupert Sanderson Minion pumps (sold out). Not only are they yellow with eyeballs on them , but there are big lashes at the heel of the shoe, too cute! My green satin bomber has appliques on it with splashes of pink and blue. Being the 'extra' person that I am I coordinated my make up by using electric blue eyeliner (elf, $2) and Wet 'n Wild pink matte lipstick ($3).I kept accessories light but fun.I matched my pearl ear headband with my pearl choker for a touch of feminine flair. My mini wannabe-Birkin (thirfted) is loaded with fun furry accessories for extra appeal. So do you think this look is street style worthy or nah? Saturday is upon us and I am serving Fur real today!!! I'm not really one for animal fur; a faux is just fine for me. The coat I am wearing is the exception , only because it was pretty much a steal. So yeah, I have pretty much been thrifting my whole life. On a Saturday morning thrifting trip with my mom, about 10 years ago, we came across a yard sale at a church. I saw this coat and was in looooove!! The price? $5!!! It's safe to say all I could hear in the background was Patti LaBelle's "When you've been blessed" lol. This fur is 100% rabbit and after 10 years of hanging in the closet , I am finally ready to slay in it. It does shed a little bit, but the $5 price tag leaves me with no regrets. Not only is it super warm, but it has a waist cincher made into to coat. It also has a collar on it; I just decided to fold it in for this look. I saw so many great pics from New York Fashion Week, but I'm stuck here in NC just wishing. This look is what I would wear if I had been in New York this week. Street style is what I live for! So vibrant, unexpected and very non-traditional all the things I love in a good ensemble. I feel my look definitely embodies all of that. From the nineties-inspired color palette and patent leather boots (PublicDesire.com, $52) to the colorful fur scarf (asos.com, $20).My green neoprene sweatshirt I got last year on Romwe.com for $20.The barely there shorts I have on are from Forever21 ($4) they have fringes on them , but I ripped them off. Mini bags, especially the structured ones have been spied on all the fashionistas including Jamie Chung , Rihanna, and editor -in -chic Anna Dello Russo. While my black mini resembles a baby Birkin, it is far from it. This leather love was thrifted for only $5.I am such a big proponent for accessories that I made sure to wear my striped gloves to ensure a standout statement look. When you have a look that is bound to turn heads, its best to keep the face beat simple. |
